Mälardalens University (MDU), Sweden's youngest and rapidly developing university, seeks a Vice Chancellor (Prorektor) to join its leadership team. This key role involves driving the continued development of a university focused on curiosity, innovation, and collaboration. The position requires working closely with the Chancellor to shape the future of higher education and research, with a focus on quality, relevance, and societal impact. The university has campuses in Västerås and Eskilstuna.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the rector's deputy according to higher education law and lead strategic development of education, research, and collaboration
- Develop and implement the university's vision and strategic goals while ensuring high quality in education and research
- Represent the university internally and externally, building trust-based relationships with stakeholders
Requirements
- PhD with docent (associate professor) qualification
- Several years of documented managerial experience including leading other managers
- Proven academic leadership at senior organizational levels
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance in higher education
- Experience representing a university in international contexts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Swedish and English
