Mälardalens University (MDU), Sweden’s youngest and rapidly developing university, seeks a Prorektor (Vice-Chancellor) to join its executive leadership team. This strategic role involves driving the continued development of a university characterized by curiosity, innovation, and collaboration. The Prorektor works closely with the Rector to shape the future of this progressive institution, focusing on strengthening quality, attractiveness, and societal relevance across education, research, and collaboration. Position based in Västerås or Eskilstuna, starting immediately or by agreement.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Rector's deputy according to Swedish Higher Education Act and lead strategic development of education, research, and collaboration
- Drive high-quality assurance and development of education and research with focus on relevance and attractiveness
- Build trustful internal and external relationships and represent the university in international contexts
Requirements
- PhD with docent (associate professor) competence
- Several years of documented managerial experience, including leading other managers
- Proven experience as academic leader at senior organizational level
- Strong expertise in quality assurance and strategic development in complex environments
- Very good knowledge of higher education and research conditions with understanding of relevant regulations
- Excellent Swedish and English communication skills (written and spoken)
- Demonstrated ability to promote work environment, inclusion, gender equality, and diversity
